M. Meza Cellars is named after Magdalena Meza Perez. Magdalena Meza and Lucio Perez were married in 1914 and soon after moved their family from Mexico to Arizona then eventually to the Napa Valley. Lucio would work long days and Magdalena would stay home and manage the house work as well as tending to the 12 children. These times were not only physically tough but also emotionally hard on the family. It was Magdalena who kept the family together in these tough times. Eventually Lucio was able to find work picking fruit in the valley. He noticed that a lot of these fruit orchards were being ripped out and replaced with vineyards. Soon all of the children grew older and started families of their own. While all of the children would help out on the family owned vineyards; the youngest son David stayed in the grape growing and wine making business.
Today David manages the Edano Cab parcel on Inglewood Avenue in St. Helena CA and oversees all wine making. With the help of his son Kim and grandchildren; David is able to ensure that the name and legacy of Magdalena Meza will live on forever.
